This is another great recording by Michael Jary and his band - this time playing one of Jary's compositions : "Das Leben hat immer zwei Seiten" (lit. There's always two sides to life". This song was featured in the 1941 movie "Blutsbrüderschaft" (Blood Brothers). This was a propaganda movie about 2 soldiers who become blood brothers at the end of the First World War... Their friendship is seriously tested by the economic chaos of the 1920s and their falling in love with the same woman.... Finally they find each other again and - together - go to war once again in 1939. The movie starred Hans Söhnker (in his only propaganda movie), the beautiful Anneliese Uhlig and Ernst von Klipstein. "Blutsbrüderschaft" enjoyed a certain degree of succes with young audiences - not because of its content - but because of the music which was composed by Michael Jary.... For the sequences taking place in the 1920s and early 1930s (a degenerate era by nazi standards) Jary composed some very hot music. One song became especially popular : "Warum ist die Banane gelb?" (Why is the banana yellow?) recorded by Kary Barnett with Jary's orchestra (see YouTube). Such sequences in "historic" movies allowed composers to go all the way and Jary gladly obliged...
