Most videos attempt to use only this feature to make computers run faster, and rightly so. Modifying the Windows 7 Startup will definitely create a performance increase for the majority of computer users. Many individuals may have already done this step, if so, stay tuned anyways, there are many more methods than these standard ones to get the most out of your Windows 7 PC. The Windows Startup is quite possibly one of the most mismanaged areas of the Windows operating systems. It is quite irritating that Microsoft would go through so much trouble to constantly annoy users when they try to run applications, yet when an application want's to add itself to your windows startup, Windows doesn't even bat an eye at it. So as a result, just about every application you install on your computer registers itself into you Windows startup - they think it creates the illusion of better service. In my opinion, it doesn't create better service at all, if I want to run an application, I want to run it when I open it, not BEFORE I open it. Sorry to vent too much frustration here, it is what it is, so lets fix it. Make sure to check back and monitor your Windows 7 startup quite frequently. When launching the game Diablo under Windows 7, almost all users experience problems with color. Alot of "fixes" out there require a batch script that kills explorer.exe and restarts it after you exit diablo.exe. That method works, but is NOT ideal. This method is a very simple fix which works for a majority of users, it involves opening the screen on Windows 7 that allows you to change your resolution. Why this works is currently unknown at this time. It should also work for other legacy Blizzard games such as the Starcraft series.
In this video I try to explain how to alleviate (not completely fix) StarCraft color issues and fix the black box issues that are sometimes reported. I recommend watching this in full screen. This video is intended for those who want an easy way to get the colors corrected for game play without using an explorer-kill batch file. Info you might want to know -Colors: This is an alleviation, not a complete fix. If you still get color problems, make sure other windows are minimized and gadgets are off. If they are closed and/or you have nothing else open, just try to open starcraft a few more times to fix it. (this is noted in the video). There was actually one computer that, no matter what, the colors would still be distorted. Turning off 640x480 fixed it for him. Test that as well, and let me know how that goes. "Wait, when I alt-tab from starcraft, the colors still get messed up. Why?" -I actually don't know. Just don't alt-tab from StarCraft and you'll be fine. There are chances leaving a screen resolution/personalize window open when you start starcraft will work, there are other times it will not. I've gotten a few emails stating that having DPI scaling and Composition disabled fixed their issues (still leaving operating system compatibility off and the original 4 I show in the video still selected).
