Even if it's called eBook Player, this brandnew 7 inch gadget from the German manufacturer Trekstor really comes as an e-reading device as well. However, color lcd display and it's software make it a fully featured music and movie player. The ebook player hits the shelves in two versions with identical hardware but different firmware - while the "ebook player 7m" can play movies, the "ebook player 7" cannot. The slightly crippled version is sold for 99 Euros by large retailers, the movie-version is sold by online shops for 139 Euros.

Review of the Aluratek Libre Color Multimedia Player. 7" TFT LCD screen, plays a lot of video and audio formats. Lots of eBook format support, including Adobe DRM. Update: Firmware v. 2.11 fixes sleep setting retention issue, adds encoding option to main menu. Also. PDF reflow DOES work. Not sure if v. 2.11 firmware fixed it, or I was wrong in initial assessment with the graphic novel PDF file I used to test it. In any event, PDF text files DO resize nicely. NOTE: upgrade process is poorly described. If doing it for the first time you will likely have to install drivers from the Firmware upgrade folder. Follow step 4 in installation instructions and firmware upgrade will resume after driver installation.
