A slideshow of some macro images - I enjoy the challenge of macro photography as there is so much we do not see until we can see it extremely close-up. For example I never saw the grubs on the fungi - these are very small fungi nor the spider in the fungi. Who knew Bumblebees have hooks behind their knees or how hairy and spiky spiders are. The images are from the commonplace, a pocket watch and a hard drive with a "cooked" component made using an Olympus OM system bellows & the OM 80mm bellows lens. Some pictures of tiny fungi in the dark New Zealand bush taken with the Olympus Zuiko 35mm macro & the 12-70mm ED lenses. Some Bumblebees, Weta's and spiders taken with the Zuiko 35mm macro, an extraordinary lens for the price. The spiders & Weta's were photographed at night - a challenge composing and focusing that I've now solved by using a Sunpak FL-VL mini video light so I shall be improving upon these results. I have also refined my flash technique recently by adding an Impact mini softbox (thanks B&H) to my kit to replace the many different diffusers I have made and modified (the last fungi were the only ones taken using this) and will soon be receiving an Olympus E-5 body giving me wireless TTL allowing better flash positioning as I find I'm often working so close the flash falls behind the subject. I am also awaiting the smaller Olympus FL-36R flash to make lighting more flexible, Enjoy this look at the small world. I have a few more macro presentation so check out my <b>...</b>
