Das Projekt möchte die Tradition berühmter Gruppen wie Dexter Gordon und Wardell Gray, Sonny Stitt und Gene Ammons oder Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis und Johnny Griffin fortsetzen. Der 57jaehrige Saxofonist aus New York wird seine eigenen Kompositionen sowie bekannte Jazzstandards präsentieren. Steve Grossman wurde 1951 in New York geboren und stellt eine wichtige Figur in der Geschichte des Jazz dar. Seine glänzende Karriere begann mit nur 18 Jahren, als er Wayne Shorter in der Band von Miles Davis ersetzte. Hier wirkte er auch bei den großartigen Alben Jack Johnson, Live Eil, Miles Davis at Filmore, Big Fun und Get Up With It mit. Eine weitere wichtige und lange anhaltende Zusammenarbeit kam mit dem Schlagzeuger Elevin Jones zustande, mit dem er unter anderem das legendäre Album Live at Lighthouse aufnahm. 1973 nahm er das Album Some Shapes To Come auf, sein erstes Projekt, bei dem er als Band-Leader wirkte. It was the only such movie filmed in color and was the first to feature surprise cameo appearances from other well-known stars of the day. George and Harold, American song-and dance-men performing in Melbourne, Australia, have to leave in a hurry to avoid various marriage proposals. They end up in Darwin, where they take jobs as pearl divers for a prince. They are taken by boat to an idyllic island on the way to Bali, (the location is unclear, but possibly in the Maluku Islands). They vie with each other for the favours of exotic (and half-Scottish) Princess Lalah, a cousin of the Prince. The hazardous dive produces a chest of priceless jewels, which the prince plans to claim as his own. After escaping from the prince and his henchmen, the three are shipwrecked and washed up another island. Lalah is now in love with both of the boys and can't decide which to chose. Following further romantic complications, the boys participate in a traditional marriage ceremony, both thinking they're marrying Lalah. In fact, she's being unwillingly married to the already much-married King. Harold conjures up Jane Russell from a basket by playing a flute and thinks that he's going to get her. The plot concerns the murder of two strippers, backstage of a New York burlesque theatre and the detection of the killer. The film is a faithful, if sanitized due to the censorship of the time, adaptation of the original novel, although Gypsy Rose Lee, who appears as a character in her own book, is here renamed "Dixie Daisy" (Stanwyck). Michael O'Shea plays her romantic interest, comedian Biff Brannigan, and Iris Adrian portrays a showgirl. Pinky Lee, a burlesque comic in real life, is another notable supporting player, as is Gerald Mohr as villain Louie Grindero.
